While the almighty google provides a great plenty of information on just about anything and everything you can think of, I've recently learned obtaining information for a multipurpose community is just a little more difficult than searching or finding information for only subject.
Basically, the purpose of this thread is simple: If you happen to come across any news concerning major or obscure comic book projects or even televison/movie news and etcetera on for Milestone Media, please leave a link here and it will be posted to the community. Comments are screened.

STATIC SHOCK FILM FUNDRAISER
Jun. 14th, 2012 10:08 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Thank you for taking the time to visit our campaign page to raise funds for the production of our Static Shock Fan Film!
In June of 1993, Dwayne McDuffie created "Static", a comic book series about a young teenager named Virgil Hawkins living in the midst of gang violence and inner city struggles in the fictional city of Dakota. Static was one of the first (and only) African American superheroes to star in his own comic, and in 2000 even went on to star in the hit series "Static Shock" for 52 half-hour episodes. The "Static Shock" series was important as it was an inspiring, uplifting superhero cartoon that successfully reached out to young men and women, and brought McDuffie's work into the limelight and center stage.
We, the award-winning producers of the Fan Film "Static Shock: Redemption", have always been fans of "Static Shock", and are creating this high-def, high-quality short film to bring Static BACK in the form of a live-action series. We hope for our trailer-format film to go viral and draw attention, so that we may pitch the idea to DC comics.

SHADOW CABINET
Sure, Static Shock died an unfortunately quick death, but this later Milestone series -- essentially the imprint's Avengers, except more morally ambiguous and more entertaining to read in the 1990s -- not only deserves more attention but would fit in surprisingly well with The New 52.
Mysterious organization led by shady figure whose aims aren't always entirely clear? Check -- but with the important distinction that this team are the good guys, and unlike Stormwatch, they're not too self-conscious about whether or not they're considered superheroes or not. Plus, comics needs the return of the snarky, upbeat Donner and Blitzen, to counterbalance the self-importance of Apollo and Midnighter. [SOURCE]

However, Washington, like many other creators, had difficulty finding work in the industry following the mid-1990s comics implosion. He’d lately been employed sporadically by a call center and catalog warehouse. Washington had been homeless a few times, and had received assistance from The Hero Initiative with rent and food, which he recounted in his final work — a one-page autobiographical strip he contributed to Hero Comics 2012 (below), the charity comic released last week to help raise money for the group.
